The SFCC Alliance is organization to provide a space for students. The SFCC Alliance is overseen by Barbara Williams. She is a professor with degrees in English, Cultural Studies, and she has a doctorate in Film Studies. She was also the Grand Marshall for the Spokane Pride Parade.
Barbara also does diversity training and helps educate others out there about the LGBTQA community. The Alliance mission is to provide a safe place for SFCC students. Most recently, the Alliance opened the first LGBTQA center on campus where everyone can go to study, have meetings and talk about what affects our community. Also, they hosted the LGBT Summit where all of the organizations that work and represent the community could go and talk about issues that affect us today and how we can best serve our community. There are also over 70 faculty members that are diversity trained and support the Alliance Club, which makes this campus one of the most well trained in the area. The Alliance has made a great, positive impact on the campus and has helped make it a better and a safer place for its students and faculty members. Group meetings for SFCC students are fridays at 1 p.m. at the SFCC LGBTQA Center.
